A man and a woman wanted on Canada-wide warrants in connection with a homicide of a woman in Markham last December have been arrested in Montreal.
The arrest warrant for Shichao Dong, and Lina Rong was issued following the murder that occurred Dec, 4, 2022 at an apartment on Buchanan Drive, near Highway 7 and Warden Avenue, according to York Regional Police.
When officers responded to a report of an injured person at about 8 p.m., they found an adult female who was deceased. After a post-mortem examination conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, the death was determined to be a homicide.
On Jan. 6, the suspects were located and arrested by the Montreal Police Service. Investigators from the York Regional Police homicide unit travelled to Montreal and escorted the suspects back to face charges.
Shichao Dong, 38, and Lina Rong, 35, both of Markham are charged with first-degree murder.
