Man involved in vehicle theft in York Region fatally stabbed

Victim was dropped off at the hospital Thursday morning, police say

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened Thursday.

At about 6 a.m., police were called to a hospital in Richmond Hill after a man arrived with a stab wound. He was accompanied by two other men, one of whom left immediately after they dropped off the victim, York Regional Police said in a news release.

The victim, who police say was involved in a vehicle theft, was pronounced dead a short time later. His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Police learned three men were involved in a theft of a vehicle on Kersey Street at about 4:45 a.m. The stolen vehicle was found later that morning in a parking lot in the area of Weston Road and Sheppard Avenue in Toronto. An unknown suspect was seen on video exiting the vehicle and leaving the area on foot.

Isaiah Mentor Lorguste, 19, of Montreal, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man who took the victim to the hospital, as well as the man seen getting out of the stolen vehicle in Toronto.

Investigators don’t yet know where the stabbing happened, but they believe it was in the Richmond Hill or Vaughan area.
