Homicide unit investigating after man fatally shot in Vaughan

York Regional Police investigators are working with Toronto police to determine if two additional shooting victims are connected to the Vaughan shooting

A man died in hospital after a shooting early this morning in Vaughan.

The York Regional Police homicide unit is seeking witnesses and information after officers responded to the report of a man shot in the area of Dufferin Street and Summeridge Drive March 9 at 3:45 a.m.

The victim was transported to a trauma centre but was pronounced deceased a short time later, police said in a news release.

While investigating this incident, York Regional Police became aware that a man and woman with gunshot wounds had been found by Toronto police.

"Our investigators are working closely with the Toronto Police Service to determine whether or not this incident is connected to the shooting that occurred in Vaughan," police said.

The investigation is in the early stages and more information will be provided when available, police said. 

Investigators are urging any witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so, and are asking anyone with information or video recordings related to this crime, to contact police as soon as possible.
