Three men have been charged and a warrant has been issued for an additional suspect in connection with a series of residential break-ins in York Region and Greater Toronto Area.
Stolen property, including jewelry, watches and other valuables, has also been recovered after investigators executed four search warrants Jan. 9 in Vaughan and Toronto, a York Regional Police news release said.
The Project Kona investigation was launched following a break-in in the area of Bluff Trail and Skyline Tail in King Township on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m. Through investigation, the suspects were linked to five additional break and enters back to September 2024, police said.
Officers also seized break and enter tools, radio frequency jammers, a wireless signal and camera detector, a firearm and a quantity of substance believed to be fentanyl, police said.
The wanted suspect is Paata Vasadze, 51, of no fixed address is charged with break and enter commit x2 and break and enter with intent. A warrant has been issued for his arrest but he has fled the country, police said.
Ivane Zitanishvili, 42, Vaughan is charged with:
- Break and enter commit x3
- Break and enter with intent x2
- Disguise with intent
- Participation in a criminal organization
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
- Operate a conveyance while prohibited
Zurab Sajaia, 40, of Toronto is charged with:
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possess of a prohibited device
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Schedule I substance
David Sologashvili, 28, of Toronto is charged with:
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possess of a prohibited device
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Schedule I substance
York Regional Police are releasing photographs of the charged parties as they believe there are additional victims and are encouraging them to come forward.
Anyone who was a victim of a residential break and enter between August to December 2024 are being asked to review online the items that have not yet been claimed. There will be a process to verify ownership before collecting any property.
