5 youths charged in Vaughan sexual assault

Five youths from Hamilton have been charged in connection with a sexual assault in Vaughan earlier this month.

A female youth reported a sexual assault after she was approached by a group of at least five males who were unknown to her Sunday, Oct. 6 shortly before 1 a.m. near Norwood Avenue and Jane Street, York Regional Police said in a news release.

The males brought the female to another location where they sexually assaulted her, police said.

Three of the youths were arrested on Friday, Oct. 11,with two additional suspects being arrested on Monday, Oct. 14 and Thursday, Oct. 17.

York Regional Police thanks to the members of the community and media who assisted with this investigation and co-operated with our officers.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police encourages anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
