2 charged after shooting at Vaughan adult entertainment club

Two people have been charged following a shooting June 29 in Vaughan.

At about 1:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at an adult entertainment venue in the area of Rivermede and Bowes roads. 

Officers found evidence of gunshots near the main entrance. The club was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported.

On Thursday, York Regional Police arrested a man and a woman in relation to the shooting. On Friday, search warrants were executed in Courtice and Oakville, and a handgun was seized.

Noel Francis, 36, of Courtice, has been charged with discharging a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of an unauthorized firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, careless storage, possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition (two counts) and possession of a controlled substance.

Payton Higgs, 22, of Oakville, has been charged with accessory to discharging a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of an unauthorized firearm, possession of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

Police are asking any witnesses or those who may have dash cam footage from the area to come forward.
