Elizabeth Crowe, trustee for Aurora/King/Whitchurch-Stouffville has been acclaimed chair of the York Catholic District School Board and Maria Iafrate, trustee for Richmond Hill, was acclaimed vice-chair of the board.
Both Crowe and Iafrate were returned to the positions Monday Nov. 18 that they served in during the previous school year, according to a board news release. Chair and vice-chair elections are held annually at the YCDSB’s inaugural board meeting in November.
“I am totally committed to working with each and every one of the trustees at this table and the members of the senior team,” said Crowe. “I know York Catholic is the best board in the province. Not just the best Catholic board, but the best board in the province … We will give people reasons to believe in Catholic education.”
Iafrate echoed chair Crowe’s comments about working together, especially during this time when the education system faces many challenges.
Before the election, interim director of education John De Faveri thanked Crowe and Iafrate for their service, and added, “To all our trustees, I look forward to continue working with you in the best interests of Catholic education and the many people enriched by it. Thank you for your continued dedicated service to the York Catholic District School Board.”
