Aurora Sports Hall of Fame 11th Annual Induction Celebration Evening: Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Induction Celebration honours the remarkable achievements of athletes, coaches, builders, and contributors who have left an indelible mark on the sporting landscape of Aurora from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at Aurora Town Square, 50 Victoria St. Tickets, $135.  

Connect for a Cause: Meet, mingle, and make a difference. The social singles and speed dating event supports local children with cancer in partnership with The Princess Lily Series, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at EVENTMRKT, 352 Doug Duncan Dr., Newmarket. the night will offer music and entertainment, a welcome drink and cash bar, yummy finger foods, and a raffle featuring gift baskets donated by local small businesses. Tickets $25.

Murray McLauchlan-Hourglass: Murray McLauchlan is one of Canada’s most highly regarded singer/songwriters, and with good cause. Over a 50-year career, he has released 20 albums and been awarded 11 Junos. For many years Murray’s touring had been restricted to Lunch At Allen's, whose members also include Ian Thomas, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church. But with the release  of his critically acclaimed  Hourglass, he’s back on the road treating concert goers to a seamless blend of old and new. Pathway to the Stars: A Live Radio Experience, Nov. 9 and 10: Pathway to the Stars: A Live Radio Experience brings to life true tales of courage and heroism, drawn from the bestselling book Pathway to the Stars: 100 Years of the Royal Canadian Air Force by Michael Hood and Tom Jenkins with an ensemble of five talented actors portraying more than 30 characters, complete with live sound effects and music. Two-time Juno Award nominee and CRMA winner Jason Wilson will host and perform live music at the performance from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Aurora Town Square. For tickets, $35, visit aurora.ca/WhatsOn

Outdoor Meditation All Seasons: Join the meditation group every Saturday outdoors in the beautiful setting of Fairy Lake Park at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., rain or shine.  Some mats, cushions, and chairs will be available. Dress appropriately for the weather, and feel free to bring a mat, cushion or folding chair if you like, but not necessary.

Sunday, Nov. 10

Newmarket Legion Remembrance Day Service and Parade: Parade will form at 1 p.m. on Doug Duncan Drive and will begin marching at 1:30 p.m. to the Cenotaph in Veterans Memorial Park at D'Arcy and Church Street for a 2 p.m. service, followed by a reception at the Newmarket Legion at 707 Srigley St.

NHL Alumni Game Vs York Regional Police for Special Olympics: Former NHL stars lace up their skates alongside law enforcement professionals, forming two formidable teams that will battle it out on the ice for a cause that goes beyond the scoreboard. The NHL Alumni Benefit Tour supports the Special Olympics and supports the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Tickets $20 to $30, doors open at 1 p.m., game begins at 2 p.m. at Ray Twinney Recreation Complex, 100 Eagle St. West, Newmarket.

Newmarket Veterans' Association Remembrance Day Service: The Newmarket Veterans’ Association holds a Remembrance Day Service at the Newmarket Cemetery at 112 Main St. N. at the cenotaph there. The ceremony will start at about 10:40 a.m., with the Newmarket Citizens Band also participating.

Aurora Cultural Centre presents Amanda Martinez + Eliana Cuevas, Nov. 16: Blending her Mexican and South African roots with elegance and sophistication, . Amanda has four releases under her belt, the latest is a continuation of exploring sensuous Cuban influenced flamenco rhythms, “Recuerdo” (Memory). Amanda awarded Top 10 most Influential Hispanic Canadians by the Hispanic Congress. Eliana Cuevas, an award-winning singer songwriter, draws on the unlimited colours in her compositional palette. She'll be joined by her husband, keyboard player Jeremy Ledbetter. Tickets, $38, performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at Aurora Town Square.
