Friday, June 21

Newmarket Community Craft Beer and Beverage Festival, June 21 and 22: The annual Newmarket Community Craft Beer and Beverage Festival features more than 35 beverage and gourmet food vendors, with a mix of artisan craft beers and non-alcoholic drinks, and live entertainment at Fairy Lake. See various ticket prices ranging from VIP pass is $45 to $20 general admission ticket. Friday 6 to 10 p.m., Focklers headlining from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday 2 to 10 p.m., Duvet cover band headlining 7 to 10 p.m. Children under 19 can enter the event for free. Bring a canned food donation for Newmarket Food Pantry for $5 off day-of tickets.

Sultans of String Walking Through the Fire: In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Town of Newmarket presents the Sultan of String performing with award-winning First Nations, Metis and Inuit artists in Walking Through Fire from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Old Town Hall, 460 Botsford St. Free admission, seating is limited, tickets at newtix.ca.

2nd Annual Inked Circus Aurora, June 21 to 23: The Inked Circus returns to the Aurora Community Centre, bringing together hundreds of tattoo artists from across North America for a thrilling showcase of talent. Expect to see live tattooing, live music, education sessions plus a non-stop circus of awe-inspiring spectacles that make for a thrilling weekend for fans of alternative culture.To book a tattoo session with any attending artists, visit the website for contact details. Friday 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Family day Sunday kids 16 and under get in for free with adult admission/supervision. Ticket details here, or $30 at the door.

Aurora Bridge Club: Play duplicate bridge weekly with the Aurora club at the Newmarket Veterans Association, 406 Millard Ave., from 12:15 to 4 p.m., open games Wednesdays and Fridays, Thursday 0-500. Price $6 to $10.

Aurora Indigenous Peoples Celebration: Learn more about the cultural diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples with Indigenous storytelling and a live musical performances at Aurora Town, 49 Wells St. from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Schedule: 9 to 9:45 a.m. and 11 to 11:45 a.m. Dave Mowat Trio; 10 to 10:45 a.m. and noon to 12:30 p.m. storytelling with Anishinaabe Grandmother Kim Wheatley.

Good Vibes Music Festival: Market Brewing Company, Leslie Street, Newmarket, hosts a free family music festival from noon to 11 p.m., with Owen Misener at noon, Erin Blackstock and Dana Ricker at 1:30 p.m., Patrick Fockler 3 p.m., Jayme Lynne 4:30 p.m., Ainsworth/DeGrandis 6 p.m., headlined by Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train at 8 p.m. The event also will have food trucks, cornhole and games, button making with Cute As A Button, plus more games and activities! 

Newmarket Farmers' Market: The Newmarket Farmers' Market at Riverwalk Commons, on Doug Duncan Drive, where you can connect with local farmers, enjoy delicious treats, discover unique artisans, take in some live music, and enter a draw for a market basket, while visiting with family and friends. The market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until October.

Aurora Farmers' Market & Artisan Fair: Shop local, shop fresh at the Aurora Farmers' Market Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Oct. 26 at 49 Wells St. (northeast corner of Town Park) featuring artisans, farmers, food vendors and community groups.

Outdoor Meditation All Seasons: Join the meditation group every Saturday outdoors in the beautiful setting of Fairy Lake Park at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., rain or shine.  Some mats, cushions, and chairs will be available. Dress appropriately for the weather, and feel free to bring a mat, cushion or folding chair if you like, but not necessary.

Lavender Polo Farm: The family lavender farm in East Gwillimbury is open for summer season with weekly farmer/vendor markets, weekly workshop sessions, monthly events, performances, natural products, and lavender picking in six fields with four different species of lavender totalling 100,000+ plants on 155 acres. New activities this year features weekly picnic bookings, candle and other maker workshops, and harvesting your own lavender plants. Aurora Garden Tour: Garden Aurora host its annual tour of nine beautiful gardens from noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets, $15, cash only at New Roots Garden Centre in Newmarket; Wild Birds Unlimited in Newmarket; Replenish General Store in Newmarket; Petal Me Sugar Florist in Aurora; Royal Rose Gallery in Aurora. They are also being sold at Garden Aurora’s booth at the Aurora Farmers' Market June 15 and 22. Tickets can be bought the day of the event at Garden #1 at 43 Whispering Pine Trail, from noon onwards.

Newmarket Cycles Group Ride: Explore Newmarket by bike at Newmarket Cycles’ free family-friendly group ride from 3 to 4 p.m., starting and ending 470 Davis Dr. Rides are typically about 10 km long and explore trails, quiet residential streets, and local cycling infrastructure. No registration required. 

York Region Singles Speed-Mixer: This speed mixer combines elements of speed dating with a social mixer for various age groups. Meet a new love, friend, or business contact from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at The Suya Spot,  130 Davis Dr. #Unit D1, Newmarket. Bring your business cards for networking and meeting new friends. Unlike speed dating, you are not obligated to sit and speak with all attendees. There will be an icebreaker activity, a game and lots of time for mingling. Attendees will have six minutes to chat with anyone of their choice and at the sound of the bell will select another person to chat with. Newmarket's Tim Hortons Canada Day Festival, Monday, July 1: Canada festivities take place at Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr.,  from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with live concerts, food vendors including a licensed area and barbecue managed by the North Newmarket Lions Club, rides on the Tim Hortons Express Train, busker entertainment, vendors, facepainting, and more. Be sure to also check out the festivities happening next door on Newmarket's Main Street. Shuttle bus available.

Newmarket's Canada Day Concert and FireworksMonday, July 1: The Newmarket Citizens Band plays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., followed by a concert from 9 to 10 p.m. featuring the band Switchbeat, all at George Richardson Park, Bayview Parkway. Fireworks will take place from approximately 10:10 to 10:30 p.m.

Aurora's Dance in the Park, Sunday, June 30: Put on your dancing shoes and kick off the Canada Day festivities with the Dance in the Park with fantastic live bands, great food and the Rotary Beer Garden from 7 to 11 p.m. at Town Park, 49 Wells St. Performance schedule.

Aurora's Canada Day Parade, Monday July 1: Canada Day celebrations begin with the annual parade with marching bands, including the Governor Generals Horse Guards, cultural performers and more on Yonge Street, starting at 10 am. and travelling north from Edward Street to Aurora Heights Drive.

Town of Aurora Canada Day Festivities, Monday, July 1:  Celebrate Canada’s birthday with festivities that include live multicultural showcase and children’s activities, food vendors, mini golf, inflatables and more from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Lambert Willson Park and Aurora Family Leisure Complex.
