Thursday, June 13

Aurora Newmarket Walking Group: Join five-kilometre group walk from 6 to 7:30 p.m. along the Tom Taylor Trail in Newmarket every Thursday until June 27. Meet at All Our Kids (AOK) Playpark at 535 Timothy St.

UPDATE, CANCELLED due to weather warning: Cheer on Connor McDavid Stanley Cup Viewing Party:  You can cheer on Newmarket's hometown hockey star with the entire community as Connor McDavid vies for the Stanley Cup for the first time. The Town of Newmarket is renaming Riverwalk Commons Connor McDavid Square for the duration of the playoffs, as McDavid’s Edmonton Oilers take on the Florida Panthers for hockey’s top trophy. The Game 3 viewing party starts at 8 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, bring your lawn chairs, food and beverage will be available for purchase on site. 

East Gwillimbury Farmers Market: Every Thursday, rain or shine, the farmers market features local vegetables, artisan vendors, meat, cheese, baked goods, honey, soaps until Sept. 28 at the Civic Centre at 19000 Leslie St. in Sharon from 2 to 7 p.m. Some vendors may only accept cash payments.

Friday, June 14

Aurora Bridge Club: Play duplicate bridge weekly with the Aurora club at the Newmarket Veterans Association, 406 Millard Ave., from 12:15 to 4 p.m., open games Wednesdays and Fridays, Thursday 0-500. Price $6 to $10.

York Pride Festival, June 14 and 15:  York Pride Festival in Newmarket begins with a trans march and Sparkling Night fashions show and performances on Friday at 6 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, followed by Pride on Riverwalk with vendors and community organization booths Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr.  York Pride Parade is on Saturday at 3 p.m. on Main Street. Learn more at yorkpride.ca.

Girls Night Out Social Mixer: Join a fun and laid-back girls night out social mixer exclusively for Black women aged 30 to 45 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Made In Mexico, 196 Main St., Newmarket. York Pride Festival:  York Pride Festival in Newmarket continues with Pride on Riverwalk with vendors and community organization booths Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr.  York Pride Parade is at 3 p.m. on Main Street. Learn more at yorkpride.ca.

Fairy Lake Artisans Festival, June 15 and 16: More than 90 vendors are featured at the North Newmarket Lions Club's Fairy Lake Artisans Festival in Newmarket. The vendors, hailing from across Ontario, will be set up along the trail, offering a diverse array of crafts and goods from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Aurora Community Garage Sale: Go treasure hunting at the annual Town of Aurora community garage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Aurora Community Centre parking lot, 1 Community Centre Lane (off Aurora Heights Drive), rain or shine. A food vendor will be on-site, entertainment by Dave's Vinyl Party. Admission is free.

Newmarket Farmers' Market: For this Saturday only, the market is moving to All Our Kids Playground (aka the Dinosaur Park) from 8 am. to 1 p.m. as usual. The Newmarket Farmers' Market at Riverwalk Commons, on Doug Duncan Drive, where you can connect with local farmers, enjoy delicious treats, discover unique artisans, take in some live music, and enter a draw for a market basket, while visiting with family and friends. The market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until October.

Aurora Performing Arts Festival: Hosted by Marquee Theatrical Production, the competition showcases young talent from across York Region in singing, acting and dancing categories from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Aurora Town Park, 49 Wells St.  Who will be crowned the 2024 Aurora Teen Idol?

Cheer on Connor McDavid Stanley Cup Viewing Party:  You can cheer on Newmarket's hometown hockey star Connor McDavid as his Edmonton Oilers take on the Florida Panthers for hockey’s top trophy. The Game 4 viewing party starts at 8 p.m. at Ray Twinney Recreation Complex parking lot (it will move indoors if required due to weather conditions). 

Aurora Farmers' Market & Artisan Fair: Shop local, shop fresh at the Aurora Farmers' Market Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Oct. 26 at 49 Wells St. (northeast corner of Town Park) featuring artisans, farmers, food vendors and community groups.

Outdoor Meditation All Seasons: Join the meditation group every Saturday outdoors in the beautiful setting of Fairy Lake Park at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., rain or shine.  Some mats, cushions, and chairs will be available. Dress appropriately for the weather, and feel free to bring a mat, cushion or folding chair if you like, but not necessary.

Lavender Polo Farm: The family lavender farm in East Gwillimbury is open for summer season with weekly farmer/vendor markets, weekly workshop sessions, monthly events, performances, natural products, and lavender picking in six fields with four different species of lavender totalling 100,000+ plants on 155 acres. New activities this year features weekly picnic bookings, candle and other maker workshops, and harvesting your own lavender plants. Fairy Lake Artisans Festival: More than 90 vendors are featured at the North Newmarket Lions Club's Fairy Lake Artisans Festival in Newmarket. The vendors, hailing from across Ontario, will be set up along the trail, offering a diverse array of crafts and goods from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Highway 11 Cruisers Father's Day Car Show: Highway 11 Cruisers host a car show at the Home Depot plaza parking lot, at the Home Depot on Bayview Avenue, Aurora from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hot rods, rat rods, classics, trucks, motorcycles, super cars, race cars are all welcome. If you don't have a ride to show, bring Dad to the show. Admission is free, a donation to the charity recipient of the event is requested.

Newmarket Cycles Group Ride: Explore Newmarket by bike at Newmarket Cycles’ free family-friendly group ride from 3 to 4 p.m., starting and ending 470 Davis Dr. Rides are typically about 10 km long and explore trails, quiet residential streets, and local cycling infrastructure. No registration required.

Sultans of String Walking Through the Fire, Friday, June 21: In celebration of National Peoples Day, the Town of Newmarket presents the Sultan of String performing with award-winning First Nations, Metis and Inuit artists in Walking Through Fire from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Old Town Hall, 460 Botsford St. Free admission, seating is limited, tickets at newtix.ca.

2nd Annual Inked Circus Aurora, June 21 to 23: The Inked Circus returns to the Aurora Community Centre Friday from 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Family Day Sunday kids 16 and under get in for free with adult admission/supervision. Early bird tickets 2 for 1 $30.

Aurora Garden Tour, Sunday, June 23: Garden Aurora host its annual tour of nine beautiful gardens from noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets, $15, cash only at New Roots Garden Centre in Newmarket; Wild Birds Unlimited in Newmarket; Replenish General Store in Newmarket; Petal Me Sugar Florist in Aurora; Royal Rose Gallery in Aurora. They are also being sold at Garden Aurora’s booth at the Aurora Farmers' Market June 15 and 22. Tickets can be bought the day of the event at Garden #1 at 43 Whispering Pine Trail, from noon onwards. 

Music Without Borders, Thursday, June 27: World-class musicians perform and collaborate at Music Without Borders; A Multicultural Celebration at NewRoads Performing Arts Centre in Newmarket from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Free admission, tickets at newtix.ca
