The Aurora and Newmarket food banks are to receive funds from Tim Horton’s holiday Smile Cookie campaign, which continues until Nov. 24.
A festive twist on the long-running Smile Cookie campaign, which happened from April 29 to May 5 to this year, the holiday drive was organized for the first time last year, and raised $9.8 million, according to a news release from Tim Hortons.
The Smile Cookie campaign supports the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, and for this upcoming campaign, funds will also go to the Aurora Food Pantry and Newmarket Food Pantry.
"We cannot thank Canadians enough for their support and generosity throughout Holiday Smile Cookie week! Each cookie holds the power to change the life of someone in your community," president of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps Caroline Barham said in a news release.
The Tim Hortons holiday Smile Cookie is a white chocolate sugar cookie, with red and green sprinkles and hand-decorated with a white icing smile face.
Since 1996, Canadians have raised $129 million through the coffee chain’s distinctive Smile Cookie campaign, the released added, helping over 320,000 youth attend multi-year development programs.
