Central York Fire Services, along with other emergency responders, temporarily closed a section of Water Street this afternoon to extinguish a small fire at the corner of Main Street.
Fire services responded to the scene at Main and Water around 3 p.m., closing the road to traffic while they worked to extinguish the fire.
Central York Fire Services Capt. Chris Airey said the road was closed while they secured a water source to deal with a fire at the back of the buildings at the northeast corner of Main and Water. York Regional Police and York Region Paramedic Services also responded to the scene.
Airey said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the situation was dealt with and the road fully reopened around 4:20 p.m. Fire crews were working in a corner parking lot used by Eves Ladies' Wear By Linda and Pinpoint Health. No exterior damage was visible on either property.
The incident caused temporary traffic disruption, with vehicles diverted off of Water and onto Doug Duncan Drive.
