One Plant cannabis store celebrated its official grand opening in Bradford Saturday.
Located beside the LCBO on Holland Street West, this is the second store owned by the Schmidt family: Kevin and Leanne and their son and daughter, Ethan and Meghan.
Meghan manages the One Plant store in Stouffville, and Ethan will be managing the Bradford location. The Schmidts acquired both locations after winning the second government lottery to obtain a cannabis licence.
The shop is spacious with bright lights showcasing a variety of cannabis selections throughout the store. Customers can access tablet screens at different stations to view an array of products or view a list of products on TV displays at checkout.
One Plant is an international chain with seven locations in Ontario and nine more expected to open soon across the province. Its goal is to create a comfortable learning space for customers to educate themselves on different types of cannabis products based on individual needs.
The Schmidt family was joined by members of council and the Bradford Board of Trade (BBT) who welcomed them to Bradford and wished the retail store success.
“We want to welcome you to the town of Bradford and thank you for choosing Bradford for your store location,” expressed Deputy Mayor James Leduc who presented Kevin with a certificate from the BWG economic development team.
“I was always looking for that next opportunity, and when the lottery came, it was a great opportunity to get involved in an emerging industry,” noted Kevin, who applied twice and won. “All four of us were excited and jumping up and down!”
The store is wheelchair accessible and offers competitive pricing with an array of accessories to support a variety of means to consume.
“We all have the opportunity to buy the same products, but one advantage that our [store] size gives us is that we’re able to order more in a lot more SKUs,” explains Kevin. “So, we have the ability to have a lot more products.”
An online menu is available where customers can order and pick up in store.
