A new Aurora subdivision has hit a milestone, with move-ins set to happen in a year’s time.
Treasure Hill, the Concord-based developers behind the 138-lot subdivision project at the corner of Bayview Avenue and Vandorf Sideroad, opened two model homes with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 8, as it proceeds with sales ahead of construction.
“It’s been very well received. A lot of customers have come, we’ve had over 200 people a day. It’s definitely one of the most anticipated communities that Aurora has seen in a while,” said Natascha Pieper, vice-president of sales and marketing.
The proposal also includes a park block, and will include a playground and pickleball courts.
“It’s surrounded by the forest of the Oak Ridges trail, we like to think of it as more of a scenic enclave,” she added.
The project was approved by council on May 23, 2023. The project was a redevelopment of the site, which originally had 14 large-lot residences. At the time, several residents voiced concerns about the development, including former Aurora mayor Tim Jones, at a public planning meeting in June 2022.
More recently, some residents in a neighbouring subdivision expressed concerns about the impact on traffic along Bayview, as well as the impacts on local green spaces.
Site preparation work has been going on for several months, as are sales, according to Pieper.
She added that construction on the physical houses is to start in the spring, with move-ins set to happen around fall 2025.
