Newmarket’s new fibre internet service provider telMAX is bringing on a new CEO as the company nears completion of its local network.
The Stouffville-based company announced that Michael Strople has taken over as the CEO from Stuart Roberts. Strople has served on the company’s board of directors since July 2022.
Strople said it is a privilege to lead the company.
“I am confident that telMAX’s dedication to innovation, community engagement and unparalleled customer service sets us apart as a provider unlike any other in Canada,” said Strople.
TelMAX has continued to build out a fibre network in Newmarket in areas lacking it after purchasing the town-owned ISP, with plans to finish that work this year. It also has built networks in Stouffville and Aurora has hired it to build there, too.
Strople has previously served as president of the IT company Allstream and managing director of networking company Zayo Canada. TelMAX said he has more than two decades of experience in the sector.
Stuart Roberts, who has guided the company since May 2022, will transition to the role of president and chief operating officer.
“I am pleased to hand the reigns of telMAX over to Michael,” Roberts said. “His skills and talents make a very welcomed — and valuable — addition to the leadership team. I am looking forward to continuing my efforts to grow telMAX in my new role.”
The company’s board of directors chair John Troy thanked Roberts for his efforts in the CEO role.
“I want to extend the board’s gratitude for the tremendous impact Stuart has had on telMAX over the past year and a half, and I am confident that Michael’s leadership will build upon these successes, propelling telMAX into the next phase of our expansion.”
