Newmarket is closing down one lane on Doug Duncan Drive north of Timothy Street for two months starting Tuesday to relocate power lines for a Metrolinx Electrification Project.
The town confirmed the timing of the work, meant to facilitate the eventual expansion of GO Transit service to reach 15 minutes daily. The previously announced work will also see an associated reduction in downtown parking.
Traffic will only be able to flow one way along the drive by the Riverwalk Commons north of Timothy Street, but the town has mapped out an alternate route to get around construction through Main Street.
The construction is scheduled to run from Feb. 21 at 7:30 a.m. to April 21 at 6 p.m.
