Markham Trustee Ron Lynn has been re-elected to the position of chair of the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) for the 2025 year.
Lynn was acclaimed to the position at the inaugural meeting of the board on Monday, Dec. 2.
The results of elections for other positions are as follows:
- Board vice-chair — Newmarket Trustee Pamela McCarthy
- Finance and property standing committee chair — Georgina and East Gwillimbury Trustee Carolyn Butterworth
- Learning, equity and well-being standing committee chair — Richmond Hill Trustee Cindy Liang
- Policy and bylaw standing committee chair — Markham Trustee Michael Chen
- Ontario Public School Boards’ Association board of directors — King and Vaughan Trustee Nadeem Mahmood, Vaughan Trustee Dr. Elizabeth Sinclair
“I would like to congratulate all of our newly elected officers for 2025. Together, we form a strong and dedicated governing body that works collaboratively with board staff to serve YRDSB students and families. Our steadfast focus remains on advancing our multi-year strategic plan — elevating student achievement, fostering well-being and cultivating inclusive education for our students,” said Lynn in a news release. “I am deeply grateful to my colleagues for entrusting me once again with the responsibility of leading our district and I look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to ensure success for every student.”
