Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced $62.5 million in federal aid for fish and seafood processors, enabling workers in those industries to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) and new equipment such as freezers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trudeau said the federal government is working on a joint statement with the provinces and territories, with a strategy to cautiously re-open the Canadian economy, adding the timing and specific measures will be different across the various jurisdictions.
Trudeau spoke to young people as they continue to learn online as schools are shut down, encouraging them to stay home and, if they have to leave the house, practice social distancing measures.
Trudeau said he will not be addressing the nation Sunday morning.
