A Richmond Hill man who has been playing the lottery with OLG for 30 years is celebrating his second big win.

Roberto Fratto was struck by the Lightning Lotto jackpot on May 31, winning the top prize that had grown to $217,472.90.

(Fratto also won $2 on the same ticket, bringing his total win to $217,474.90.)

It was a case of lightning striking twice for the union worker, who in November 2006 won a Lotto 6/49 second prize of nearly $140,000, the OLG said in a news release.

“It feels good to have won again and I hope to come back for a third,” Fratto said.

“I was standing at the counter while the store clerk was checking my tickets. Suddenly, the screen lit up and said, ‘Jackpot Winner’,” he told staff at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where he claimed his winnings.

“I think the clerk was more excited than I was! She kept saying, ‘I can’t believe this happened at my store!’”

Fratto said he plans to pay some bills, take a family trip, and help with his children’s education.

The winning ticket was purchased at King Cigar Plus on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill.
