One person was sent to the hospital for evaluation following a house fire on Traviss Drive, off of Leslie Valley Drive, on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to the call at 1:13 p.m.
When they arrived on the scene—which was a two-storey house—they noticed visible smoke. They entered the home and were able to locate the fire in the kitchen of the basement unit. It was quickly extinguished.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Two people were in the unit when the fire broke out and exited the home before fire crews arrived. One occupant was taken to hospital for evaluation but CYFS said they were expected to be released.
The fire prompted a large response from CYFS and their partners.
Five fire trucks and 21 personnel from CYFS were working on the scene along with York Paramedics Services, York Regional Police and the utilities.
There is no ongoing impact to the community.
