King Township is now accepting applications for summer camp directors, co-ordinators and counsellors, as well as seasonal parks workers and outdoor program facilitators.
These contract positions are ideal for students who want to earn competitive pay and work full-time hours this summer, according to a township news release.

Summer camp directors, co-ordinators and counsellors
If you’re a young artist or chef, sports superstar or science wiz, you have a teachable skill. Get paid to do what you love by working with King’s summer camp team starting on June 30 until Aug. 29 at recreation facilities in Nobleton, Schomberg and King City, including the new Zancor Centre. Candidates must be available to attend mandatory pre-camp training; dates will be confirmed during the interview process.
Gain valuable leadership skills that will stand out on your resumé or college/university application — all while getting paid to play with kids and make summer camp memories that will stay with them forever. Competitive wages range from $17.50 to $21.50 depending on the position.
The township is searching for candidates with interests or expertise in a variety of areas, including:
- history and science
- outdoor nature education (challenge course or climbing experience, orienteering, hiking)
- creative arts
- preschool/early childhood education
- cooking and baking
- sports (hockey, badminton, basketball, gymnastics, archery, pickleball, frisbee, volleyball and soccer)
Minimum requirements:
- Minimum 16 years of age
- Minimum of one year of experience working with children
- Social insurance number
- Standard first aid and CPR-C
- Police vulnerable sector check (to obtain upon hire)
- HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development (course offered by King Township or HIGH FIVE National)
Seasonal worker for parks and environmental field labourer positions
King is hiring a parks seasonal worker and a parks summer student to assist with the day-to-day maintenance and operation of township parks and parks facilities, including trails, playgrounds, turf areas, landscaped areas, and park fixtures. Duties include the daily watering, weeding and maintenance of floral displays, new plantings and planters, as well as collecting litter. The salary range for the seasonal parks worker is $18.46 to $23.87 per hour. The hourly wage for the summer student position is $17.20.
The township is also looking for an environmental field labourer to facilitate community tree-planting events by conducting site preparation and planting native trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Responsibilities include conducting ongoing maintenance of restoration planting sites and township gardens by trimming, watering, mulching and monitoring. The position also helps with community environmental stewardship initiatives, events and nature-based programs, and conducts tree-planting demonstrations to volunteers and youth. The salary range is $18.46 to $23.87 per hour.
Outdoor program facilitators
Two contract positions (one four months and one six months) are available for an outdoor program facilitator to work at township parks. This position is responsible for implementing and facilitating nature education and recreation programs, including challenge course facilitation at Cold Creek Conservation Area for school groups and community groups, as well as facilitating programs at off-site park/trail or in-school locations through King Township. The pay rate is $18.50 per hour.
