The newly opened Firehouse Subs in Newmarket features a custom mural unique to the community to pay homage to past and present firefighters.
“Another location means more opportunities to support our local heroes and public safety organizations, which is a huge part of the Firehouse Subs mission that I’m honoured to carry on,” said franchisee Jonathan Chang in a news release. “Firehouse Subs is such a unique brand and I'm excited to bring our lifesaving subs to the Newmarket community.”
The mural features the original Newmarket fire hall built in 1866, alongside the brand-new Central York Fire Services station serving Aurora and Newmarket.
Each new Firehouse Subs location features a custom mural commissioned and hand-painted by it chief mural officer, Joe Puskas. Every mural is unique to its community and restaurant.
Chang said he is dedicated to sharing the brand’s commitment to giving back through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada, which has granted more than $2 million to hometown heroes in Ontario.
The franchise's commitment to supporting local first responders resonated with Chang, who worked as an entrepreneur in the web, print and film industries for most of his career before venturing into the restaurant sector.
Chang opened the Firehouse Subs Bradford location in 2020 and is thrilled to bring his newest location to Newmarket at 47 Harry Walker Pkwy. S., Unit 3, at Davis Drive.
The Newmarket restaurant features the new community design concept to provide a better dining experience for guests, in addition to a new back-of-the-house layout with a more efficient flow for crew members.
Firehouse Subs in Newmarket is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
