'Extravaganza' of art, culture, food, music coming to East Gwillimbury

Free event offers live music, entertainment, sweet and savoury food vendors, kids zone, artisan and community market on Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10

East Gwillimbury is holding an "extravaganza" of art, culture, food and music next weekend.

Celebrating the Arts: A Taste of Culture is a free two-day event experience presented by Rice Group on Friday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the East Gwillimbury Civic Centre, 19000 Leslie St., Sharon. 

The event promises something for everyone, whether you’re an art fan, foodie, music lover, or simply looking for something fun to do close to home.

NewRoads Automotive Stage: Enjoy two days of awesome performances starting on Friday evening from MUDMEN, Samba Squad, Mega Magic - Mike D’Urzo (international awardwinning magician & mentalist), and headliner performance by Petty Nicks: Canada's Ultimate Tribute to the Music of Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks. On Saturday, enjoy performances by the Queensville Players, Hong Luck Lion Dance Show, Ginalina - Family Folk Music, the sensational Glenn Marais, and headliner performance by Tributes to Taylor Swift & Shania Twain.

Enbridge Gas Food and Beverage Zone: This area will showcase a variety of sweet and savoury food vendors. Food for purchase includes, Smash N Grab Burger Co., Big T's Smokehouse BBQ, BeaverTails, TJ’s Tasty Treats, So Juicilicious Raw Pressed Juice + Hand Crafted Frozen Treats, Big Z’s Food Truck and York Region’s Tap’d In Water Trailer (don’t forget your reusable bottle). Guests who are 19+ will have the perfect pairing for their food with craft beer from Little Beasts Brewing Co.

CIBC Kids Zone: Children will enjoy a variety of activities, games, and entertainment including the CIBC Kids Zone stage featuring live performances, Creative Lego Club and Giant Blocks, inflatables, face painting, caricatures, demonstrations by On-Site Education Inc.

Artisan and Community Market: Shop for unique local artisan goods from over 20 vendors and visit with local organizations and groups, including EG’s Fire and Emergency Services team and the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee.
