This is the final update on COVID-19 numbers provided to NewmarketToday by York Region Public Health.

Since March 2020, York Region has provided regular updates to the media and public in response to the pandemic, including information about the status of COVID-19 cases, COVID-related fatalities, vaccination status, outbreaks and hospitalizations.

"As COVID-19 cases continue to trend downward and restrictions in our community have been lifted, York Region will cease regular COVID-19 updates to media partners and on social media channels, effective March 2023," according to Patrick Casey, director of corporate communications. "Public Health will focus efforts on managing and reporting COVID-19 data and information in alignment with other reportable infectious diseases."

However, York Region's COVID-19 interactive dashboard will continue to be published weekly and the public can stay informed on case counts, hospitalizations, outbreaks, vaccination rates and more by visiting york.ca/covid19data, he added.

**Data note from York Region Public Health: Hospitalization data indicates COVID-19-positive individuals in York Region hospitals and is not limited to York Region residents. The data includes individuals hospitalized for COVID-19 and those who may be in hospital for another reason but tested positive for COVID-19. *With the rapid transmission of Omicron and provincial changes in testing eligibility and case management, case counts and outbreaks reported are an underestimate of the number of individuals with COVID-19 and outbreaks in York Region and Ontario.
