Newmarket's Market Brewing Co. is being lauded by the province for stepping up to produce much needed hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Premier, Health Minister and Newmarket-Aurora MPP Christine Elliott dropped by the Leslie Street craft brewery on Tuesday, Aug. 4 to recognize its contribution in producing and distributing hand sanitizer, particularly when it was in short supply last March.
With support from town, provincial and federal governments, Market Brewing converted part of its operation to produce Bare Hands Sanitizer, general manager Piers Simpkin said.
The first shipment was a donation of 1,000 bottles to Southlake Regional Health Centre last April for its employee “wellness” carts, he added.
