From November 29 to December 8, the community is invited to leave their mark on the Town’s new public space by helping to name the latest addition to Aurora Town Square—a tiny, electric ice resurfacer.
Participants can submit their most creative ideas online, and the winning name will be unveiled at the annual Mayor and Council New Year’s Levee on January 4, 2025. The winner will also receive a $50 gift card to the Armoury Café.
The electric ice resurfacer reflects Aurora’s commitment to environmental sustainability, providing zero emissions, lower operating costs, and improved air quality. Aurora has introduced two electric resurfacers as part of the Town's shift toward an electrified fleet—a step that aligns with efforts to embrace green initiatives.
Since its grand opening in September, Aurora Town Square has quickly become a frequented community hub. The 29,000-square-foot outdoor space offers year-round attractions and activities. During the upcoming winter season, visitors can enjoy a skating loop illuminated by a scenic overhead catenary lighting system and a permanent holiday tree.
With art installations, heritage exhibitions showcasing the Aurora Collection, and family-friendly workshops and cultural events, the space is designed to bring the community together. This contest to name the ice resurfacer offers the community a new, playful way to be part of Town Square’s evolving story. Learn more at aurora.ca/IceResurfacerContest
