The Town of Aurora is proud to announce the grand opening of its newly upgraded accessible playground at Aurora Town Park—a space designed to welcome and inspire everyone in the community.

This state-of-the-art playground is the result of thoughtful planning and collaboration with residents through public consultations, with a goal of being accessible to a wide range of participants, through inclusive design. The revamped play space replaces older equipment with innovative features that foster inclusivity, accessibility, and fun.

Highlights of the playground include a combination play structure for both junior and senior children, equipped with full ramping to ensure easy access. Exciting features such as a side-by-side slide allow children to enjoy playtime together or with a supervising adult. Additional elements include an interactive playboard, an accessible roller slider, and flush-grade rubber surfacing that connects seamlessly to the play structures.

One of the standout features is a wheelchair-mountable swing—an innovative addition that makes Aurora Town Park one of the few playgrounds in Ontario to offer this direct-mount swing. It underscores the Town’s commitment to providing inclusive opportunities for all.

The upgraded playground at Aurora Town Park is a testament to the Town’s dedication to building an inclusive community. Residents are encouraged to visit and experience the new features firsthand.
