The Town of Aurora is extending its Windrow Removal Pilot Program for the 2024-2025 winter season, continuing to assist seniors and residents with disabilities.

First introduced last year, the program helps clear the snow piles left at the end of driveways after road plowing, making it easier for residents to access their homes.

To qualify for the program, applicants must be 65 years of age or older. Residents under 65 are also eligible if they have a disability and no one in their household over the age of 16 is physically able to remove snow.

The program will run from Dec. 1, 2024, to April 1, 2025, and will activate after snowfalls of 8 cm or more, once the Town has completed snow removal on primary and secondary roads, aiming to clear windrows within 24 hours of road plowing, though timing may vary based on conditions and resources.

Applications are now open. There is a $100 non-refundable fee per household. Residents who meet the financial assistance criteria may be exempt from paying a fee.
