Wanted King man arrested following New Year's Day motel shooting

Andrew Joseph Pitre, of King Township, was located at a parking lot in the Town of Georgina on Jan. 15.

A 33-year-old man from King Township wanted for attempted murder following a New Year's Day shooting at an area motel has been located and arrested by York Regional Police.

Andrew Joseph Pitre is charged with the following, according to a York Regional Police news release.:

  • Attempted murder
  • Discharging firearm with intent
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm
  • Point firearm
  • Unlicensed person possess prohibited/restricted weapon
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing
  • Unlawfully possess substance
  • Fail to attend court

Pitre was arrested without incident in a parking lot in Georgina Jan. 15, police said.

A 24-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting at a motel in the area of Highway 11 and Canal Road at about 9:45 p.m. Jan. 1, police said. The suspect was not located at the time.

A search warrant was executed in a motel room where a large quantity of cannabis and other drugs were seized, police added.

On Jan. 3, an arrest warrant was issued for Pitre. At the time of the investigation, he was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to attend court for previous unrelated charges.
