Police are looking for two suspects after a fire was set Sunday at a Richmond Hill cinema while movie-goers were inside.
At about 11:10 p.m., police were called to York Cinemas at East Beaver Creek Road and Highway 7 for reports of a fire in the main lobby. The sprinkler system was activated and put out the fire. There were people in a second-floor theatre, but there were no injuries, York Regional Police said in a news release.
Security video shows a grey SUV, with Ontario licence plate DCKP 812, parked in front of the main entrance. Two suspects walked through the entrance, placed an object on the ground and then threw what appeared to be Molotov cocktails at it, causing a fire. The suspects then fled in the SUV.
The vehicle is registered as a grey Acura RDX and was reported stolen from Toronto on Oct. 28.
One suspect is described as having a medium build, wearing black shoes, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath, black gloves and a mask.
The other suspect is described as having a medium build, wearing white shoes, black pants, a grey hooded sweatshirt, black gloves and a mask.
