UPDATE: Elderly man dies after being struck by vehicle in downtown Aurora

Police are seeking witnesses to the collision at Yonge and Wellington this morning

A 84-year-old man has died following a collision with a motor vehicle in Aurora today.

York Regional Police Const. Kevin Nebrija said the man was taken to hospital following the incident at Wellington Street and Yonge Street at about 9:13 a.m. Multiple cruisers arrived on scene.

"When police arrived, they found a male with life-threatening injuries. The 84-year-old victim was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The involved vehicle remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing," York Regional Police said in a news release.

Yonge was closed from Mosley Street to Irwin Avenue. Wellington was closed from Victoria Street to Mill Street. The roads have now reopened.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage or any other footage of the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
