Two charged in November armed carjacking in Markham

Police looking for more suspects following Nov. 5 incident

Two people have been charged in relation to an armed carjacking last month in Markham.

On Nov. 5 at about 2:40 a.m., police responded to a carjacking in the area of Old Kennedy Road and Denison Street. Three suspects approached a man and one pointed a gun at him before stealing his 2021 Mercedes G-Wagon. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle along with a white BMW SUV being driven by a fourth suspect.

On Nov. 6, the G-Wagon was located on a residential street in Mississauga.

On Dec. 10, a warrant was executed in Brampton, where officers seized crack cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine, and recovered a Porsche that had been reported stolen during a home invasion in Toronto, York Regional Police said in a news release. Two suspects were arrested.

Police have released photos of the accused as they are believed to be part of a larger group of people involved in carjacking robberies.

Suvestan Ganeshamoorthy, 34, of Pickering, and Arunsheeyaah Arulanantham, 29, of Brampton, are facing charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl) and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts).

The investigation is ongoing and additional suspects are being sought.
