Toronto man arrested in September double shooting at Vaughan lounge

The accused and four family members face numerous weapons, drug charges

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigation Bureau have laid charges in connection with a double shooting at a restaurant lounge in the City of Vaughan.

On Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022 at approximately 2:30 a.m., police responded to reports of multiple shots fired at the Est. 2020 Restaurant and Lounge located at 3603 Langstaff Rd. A 25-year-old male and a 38-year-old male were transported to hospital with non life-threatening gunshot injuries.

Through the investigation officers identified a suspect and on Nov. 16, 2022, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the City of Toronto. During the warrant, officers located firearm ammunition and handgun magazines, including a prohibited extended handgun magazine, as well as a quantity of drugs including fentanyl and crystal meth.

The suspect in the shooting was arrested, as well as four of his family members who have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking crystal meth, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and possession of a prohibited device in relation to the items located in the home during the search warrant.

Emmanuel Kuffour, 32, of Toronto

    •    Attempted murder using a firearm
    •    Discharge firearm with intent
    •    Use firearm while committing offence of attempted murder
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
    •    Possession of a firearm knowing it’s possession is unauthorized
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
    •    Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
    •    Possession contrary to order x2
    •    Possession of a prohibited device knowing it’s possession is unauthorized
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking x2
    •    Possession contrary to order x2

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Nov. 23, 2022.
