Police are looking for a suspect following an attempted carjacking Saturday in Vaughan.

At about 8:30 p.m., police were called to a plaza parking lot in the area of Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue, where a man was walking to his vehicle when he was approached by a suspect armed with a gun. The suspect demanded the keys to the vehicle, and the victim complied.

A struggle ensued when the suspect got into the driver’s seat. The suspect took off on foot and got into a dark-coloured SUV, believed to be occupied by a second person, and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

The victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as Black man, 20 to 25 years old, wearing black clothing, black shoes and a cloth mask over his face.

A replica firearm was recovered at the scene.
