UPDATE, 12:45 p.m.: York Regional Police have provided some details of the homicide but say it’s still the early stages of the investigation.
Speaking to media from the scene, Const. Amy Boudreau said the victim was found outside the home but she didn’t have specific details on where.
“You can see a section behind me that’s cordoned off. Everything with those boundaries are actively being investigated right now,” she said.
The cause of death is still under investigation and she did not provide details on the nature of the victim’s injuries.
It is not yet known how many people were at the residence at the time, if the victim was a resident of the home, or who called 911, Boudreau said.
There have not been any arrests made, however, she maintained there is no danger to the public.
“At this time in the early stages of the investigation, we don’t have concerns for public safety. We are looking to have any information from the community to come forward to help determine what happened here,” Boudreau said.
Officers will be canvassing the area to find out if neighbours have any information or video surveillance that could aid in the investigation.
