A 23-year-old Newmarket man is facing charges in connection with a violent sexual assault against an older woman in Newmarket on May 25.
York Regional Police said a 74-year-old woman was in her Newmarket garage at about 4:30 p.m. when a male suspect approached her and exposed himself. The suspect then violently attacked and sexually assaulted the woman.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
YRP said investigators quickly identified and tracked down the suspect.
Yorcaef Rodriguez-Martinew, 23, of Newmarket has been charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, ovecoming resistance in commission of an offence, unlawfully in a dwelling house, and two counts of failing to comply with probation orders.
