A 26-year-old Newmarket man has been charged with careless driving after a vehicle collided with and flipped an ambulance in an intersection Friday.

A dash-cam video posted on social media shows a black GMC Yukon swerving around another vehicle at a green light before striking an ambulance in the intersection of Warden Avenue and Stouffville Road in Whitchurch-Stouffville on Sept. 27.

The ambulance had its lights on and was proceeding into the intersection with caution before the driver rammed it, flipping it over on its side.

There was not a patient in the ambulance at the time of the collision, York Regional Police said.

Two paramedics sustained minor injuries but did not attend a hospital, police said.

Police declined to release the name of the person charged.
