Canada-wide arrest warrants have been issued for two men in the Richmond Hill assault on Elnaz Hajtamiri, who has been missing since January 2022 when she was abducted from a Wasaga Beach home.
York Regional Police have identified 24-year-old Jaspreet Singh and 23-year-old Sukhpreet Singh as suspects in the attack in a parking garage on King William Crescent, which is in the area of Yonge Street and Bantry Avenue, on Dec. 20, 2021.
Elnaz Hajtamiri had been struck with a frying pan and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the suspects fled in a vehicle.
Since then, police have charged five people in relation with the attack.
Now Jaspreet Singh of Delta, B.C. and Sukhpreet Singh of Mississauga are both facing charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Canada-wide warrants have been issued for their arrests.
On March 1, 2023, a 25-year-old from British Colombia was charged and in February, police arrested and charged 25-year-old Mono resident Harshpreet Sekhon in connection with the attack.
Prior to those arrests on April 13, 2022, York police arrested Riyasat Singh and on Nov. 28 he plead guilty to aggravated assault. He was sentenced to one year in jail but has since since been deported, police said.
Police then charged Hajtamiri's former boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, on July 12, 2022 in connection with the attack.
A third suspect, Harshdeep Binner, was arrested in September 2022. He remains in custody, police said.
Anyone with information about these two new suspects identified is asked to contact police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7241, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online.
