Man assaulted in violent robbery in Thornhill commercial plaza

Victim's vehicle was boxed in, three suspects stole a carry-on style suitcase that contained cash Tuesday

Three suspects assaulted a man and stole a suitcase with cash from his vehicle at a Thornhill commercial plaza Tuesday.

The victim was driving through the plaza at Yonge Street and Meadowview Avenue when his vehicle was boxed in by a white Lexus SUV and a white, four-door Mercedes-Benz Tuesday, Oct. 8 at approximately 5:10 p.m., York Regional Police said in a news release.

Three suspects exited their vehicles, assaulted the victim and stole a black, carry-on style suitcase containing a quantity of cash from the victim’s vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries.

  • White, Lexus SUV
  • Ontario licence plate DCDL 270
  • Reported stolen out of Toronto earlier in the day on Oct. 8, 2024

Suspect Vehicle No. 2

  • White, Mercedes-Benz four-door sedan
  • Ontario licence plate CKDY 286
  • Licence plate is not registered to the Mercedes-Benz

Police describe the three suspects as males and wearing dark clothing. They spoke with a Middle Eastern accent. The descriptions of the drivers of the Lexus SUV and Mercedes-Benz are unknown.

This was a targeted incident, police said.
