Loaded guns seized during traffic stop in King

Oshawa man facing charges

Two loaded guns were seized during a traffic stop Monday in King Township.

At about 11:50 p.m., officers were patrolling in the area of Highway 27 and King Road when they stopped a driver who was failing to comply with conditions from previous charges, York Regional Police said in a news release. The suspect was arrested, and a search of the vehicle turned up two firearms.

Troy Dacosta, 30, was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle (two counts), possession of a loaded restricted firearm (two counts), possession of a prohibited device (four counts), careless storage of ammunition, failure to comply with a release order (two counts) and obstructing a peace officer.

The accused was on conditions related to previous weapons charges at the time of the arrest.
