Holland Landing adult, child dead after ATV accident near Burk's Falls

Adult woman deceased at scene, while children, 9 and 5, were taken to hospital; 5-year-old girl later died following the Sunday evening accident

UPDATE: According to the OPP, the adult who was pronounced deceased at the scene was a female. The five-year-old who later died after being airlifted to hospital was a girl, and a nine-year-old boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

A Holland Landing adult and five-year-old child are dead, and a nine-year-old child is injured, after an ATV accident yesterday evening near Emsdale, south of Burk's Falls in Perry Township.

A 42-year-old person was pronounced dead at the scene, while the five-year-old was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, according to an OPP news release.

A nine-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

OPP responded on Sunday, July 23 at 6:50 p.m. to a call for a single all-terrain vehicle accident involving three people on Stewart's Road.   

Police say all three were on the ATV at the same time, and are related. The family is from Holland Landing, north of Newmarket in East Gwillimbury.

The crime unit and traffic incident management enforcement team are assisting with the investigation.

Currently, the investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. 

The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Muskoka Paramedic Service, Parry Sound District Emergency Medical Service, and the Perry Fire Department also responded.
