Canada-wide warrant issued for suspect in murder of Markham realtor

Zhixiong Marko Hu is facing first-degree murder charges following the homicide of Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui, York Regional Police say

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 47-year-old Markham man wanted in connection with the disappearance and death of 56-year-old Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui.

Zhixiong Marko Hu is facing first-degree murder charges, York Regional Police said.

Ontario Provincial Police officers reported burned human remains were located in the area of Avro Arrow Road and Hwy. 400 in Parry Sound. The Office of the Chief Coroner identified the deceased as Mui on Aug. 21.

Mui was reported missing by family after they had not heard from her since Aug. 9. Her white 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 SUV was located near Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue in Toronto later that day.

Investigators have seized two vehicles associated with Hu, a white 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van with Ontario licence plate CWHW720 and a grey 2021 Porsche Cayenne SUV with Ontario licence plate CTZT172. Investigators believe the Porsche may have had a different licence plate attached to it, CHCD989on Aug. 9 or in the days leading up to that date. Police are asking anyone who may have information or may have seen these vehicles to contact them.

Through the investigation, police learned suspects had property belonging to Mui. Three youths were charged with firearms and fraud-related offences. A fourth suspect has since been identified as being involved in her disappearance.
