Margaret Jane Shepherd (Annand) passed away on Sunday April 14th, 2024 at Ross Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Marg was the beloved mother of Dennis Shepherd (Bea), Laura Carr (Derek) and cherished granny to Montana (Keenan), Emma (Kyle), and Aspen. She had recently become a great granny to Banks and Romen. She will be deeply missed by her sister Karen Shepherd (Gord), and nephew’s Michael (Jenna), and Matthew (Ashley), to whom she was an integral part of their childhood. She was predeceased by her parents Ted and Ennid Annand.

Marg or Margie, grew up in Penetanguishene, Ontario, before moving to Toronto to work for Canada Life in her early 20s. She worked at Canada life for most of her life, other than taking time off to raise her children. Later in her life, she moved to Lindsay, Ontario to be closer with her grandchildren. Marg was an active member of her Church, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Newmarket of whom she often referred to as her church family. She was part of their choir, both singing and assisting in ordering and arranging the music. She very much looked forward to her drive down on Thursdays to sing in the choir and work in the music room. She was also part of the KeyNotes choir in Newmarket with her sister. She loved singing in concerts for others to enjoy music as well. In more recent years, as singing became harder for her, she loved listening to both choirs and being part of the community and partaking in the wonderful friendships she had made.

Marg was a true example of unconditional love and what it means to be a kind and caring person. There was no one she was not willing to help, listen to, or share some stories with. She had an ability to make everyone feel welcome and at ease in her presence. She was never afraid to pitch-in and help in any situation, as feeling helpful brought her joy. She was a devoted mother to Dennis and Laura, who are forever grateful for the privilege of calling her mom. She was a beloved mother-in-law to Bea and Derek. She could often be heard in the bleachers of Derek’s baseball games cheering him on. She was a dedicated granny to her grandchildren, often seen attending ringette games, school events, dance recitals, gymnastics classes, and much more.

Marg will be truly missed by her family below and all who knew her.

Great nieces and nephews; Annika, Caleb, Abigail, Peyton and Cohen

May she rest in Peace.

A service for Marg will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Water Street in Newmarket on Sunday April 21st, at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
