October 26th, 1944 - June 2nd, 2022
Donna Grace Medley of Bracebridge, Ontario passed away peacefully at The Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket on Thursday June 2, 2022 after a short battle with cancer, in her 77th year. Predeceased by parents Wilfred and Gladys Pearson as well as her loving husband Ken Medley and eldest daughter Michelle Anstis (David). Loving mom of Jenny Barnes (Peter) and Kendra Williamson (Doug) as well. Proud Nanny to Madeleine, Emma, Nicole, Abby, and Tom. Feisty sister in law to Garry & Bev Medley.
Donna was a devoted wife, working alongside husband Ken in the family construction business P. Medley & Sons. Later in life she drove a school bus for First Student. She enjoyed racing Ski-Doos in her youth, bowling, playing cards, cribbage, and crokinole. When her family was young, her and Ken travelled every March to Florida, eventually shifting to the Dominican Republic. In retirement she headed back to New Port Ritchie in Florida for months at a time and enjoyed trips to Barbados where her daughter lived. One of her favourite things to do was go out for lunch.
She spent countless hours volunteering with the Bracebridge Figure Skating Club which took her to many rinks around Ontario and beyond supporting her daughters in figure and precision skating.
She was and active tennis player, later switching to golf and was a member at Kirrie Glen.
Donna loved being with family and friends, always whipping up delicious meals and desserts for every occasion. She enjoyed spending hot days on the dock at the cottage, a cold drink in hand, surrounded by her kids and grandkids.
She was kind, caring, funny, and unafraid of speaking her mind to whoever was close enough to hear it.
A special thanks to the caring staff at Southlake and the Margaret Bahen Hospice.
Any donations would be appreciated to your local hospice or The Canadian Cancer Society.
Friends can drop by to join the family in celebrating Donna’s life on June 25th at the Bracebridge Legion, anytime from 1-4.
