Rod McIsaac, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully passed away at the Southlake Regional Health Centre on October 5th, 2023, at the age of 73. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rod shared 51 years of his life with his beloved wife, Maureen. He was a loving and proud father to Jacqui (Jess) and Rory, and his furry companion, Wally. The role that brought him great joy in the past year was that of “Pops” to his adorable Grandson, Lake. Rod and his three sisters, Merron (Ferruccio), Frances (Calvin), and Catherine (deceased) (Michael), enjoyed regaling the family with hilarious stories. Rod was the cherished son of the late Jack and Doris, and his family remained a source of strength and comfort throughout his life.

Rod's passions were as diverse as the colours of the changing seasons. His heart found solace and joy at his cherished cottage on Deer Lake, a place he lovingly built from the ground up. Here, he found serenity sitting on the dock, gazing out over the tranquil waters. A true water enthusiast, Rod was an accomplished swimmer and an avid sailor. He really enjoyed treating friends and family to tubing, sailing, and sunset cruises. His thirst for knowledge was unquenchable, and his love for history was boundless. Rod had an uncanny ability to conquer any game of Trivial Pursuit, a testament to his insatiable curiosity and sharp mind.

What truly set Rod apart was his vibrant spirit. He was a fun-loving, jovial soul who could light up any room with his infectious laughter. His booming, hearty laugh was a reflection of the boundless joy he found in life, and it had a remarkable way of making others smile. He was an advocate for the great outdoors, spending countless hours exploring nature’s wonders.

Rod McIsaac's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and the countless lives he touched with his warmth and humour.

A private, family celebration of Rod’s life will take place at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home (157 Main Street South, Newmarket) on Monday, October 16th from 12 pm – 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, CNIB Guide Dogs, or a charity of your choice.
