A Century of Family
Shirley Exilda Lloyd 1923-2024
Daughter of Norm and Dorothy Beaudoin; Sister to Pat, Jack, Ronnie, and Bill; Wife of Charles; Mother of Lynn, Steve and Cindy; Gramma to Kim, Sandy, Cathy, Cheryl, Theresa, Jeff, Andrew, and Devon. GG to Abigail, Breanna, Owen, Andrew, Curtis, Lucy, Charlie, Jack and Evie.
Shirley completed her amazing journey on Thursday 24 October 2024 under the gentle care of the wonderful staff at the hospice of Brantford General hospital. She was spry and active nearly to the end. Shirley was an excellent seamstress who delighted in making outfits for her grandchildren. When they outgrew the need for Gramma clothes she turned her creative talents to porcelain doll making and costuming. Aided and abetted by her daughter Lynn she became internationally recognized for her creations.
Her career culminated at the 2018 International Competition of the Doll Artisan's Guild where she won Best in Category, Best in Show and the Peoples Choice award for her "Queen of Hearts" doll inspired by Alice in Wonderland. She will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by her friends at Carla's Doll Emporium in Acton.
The family would like to thank Dr. Barisha of Brantford for over a decade of compassionate care for Shirley. We also would like to thank PSW Jennifer for her assistance to us during mom's final weeks.
Shirley will be laid to rest on Thursday November 7 at 12:00 in the Newmarket Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at the Newmarket Legion hall following the interment.
