February 9th, 1926 - January 9th, 2025
Our amazing Dad/Papa James Keanie peacefully passed away on January 9th 2025, just one month shy of his 99th birthday. He was comforted and loved in his last moments with his son Steven, daughter Carol and granddaughter Crystal by his side.
James will be reunited with his late wife Peggy. He was the last survivor of the nine children of James John Keanie and Annie Smith Keanie.
He was the beloved father of Steven (Katarina) and Carol. He was the proud Papa of Adam, Curtis, Caitlin (Andy) and Crystal (Aaron) and Great-granddad / Greatpa of Trent, Thea, Serena, Jaden and Marisa.
James defined success by loving and being loved by his family. He loved movies, travel and enjoyed good food. He was born during the depression, served in the British Army where he met and fell in love with Peggy. He worked as a docker in Leith, Scotland where he made life-long friendships with Jimmy Robertson and his wife Alice, Peter Bruce, Sonny Paterson and many others with whom he's now reunited. He spent the last years of his working life in Canada as a carman at CN Rail, before retiring on a disability pension.
