29-May-1956 - 20-Dec-2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Norman Home (Doug), on December 20, 2024 at the age of 68.

Doug was born on May 29, 1956 to Leslie Home and Margret Simpson Logan Home in Toronto. Doug moved to Thornhill in 1965.

He attended Thornlea Secondary school where he met the love of his life Sarah Townsend. Doug and Sarah were married in 1978 and went on to have two children, Eric and Elizabeth.

Doug was known for his love of family, and his kind, caring and selfless personality, who would go out of his way to help anyone. Doug brought warmth and laughter to those around him, always had such a great sense of humour with his jokes, his love for chips and a song for everything. Doug was strong-willed and enjoyed the world around him, loved to travel and be outdoors in nature. Doug's passion was photography, where he loved capturing the moments of his trips and nature through his camera’s lens.

Doug's 51 year career in the fire alarm industry began when he was 17. Doug opened his own business in 2000 where he was considered an expert in his field with his vast knowledge through years of  experience.  Doug is predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Margret Home. He will be fondly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Sarah Home, his children Eric Home and Elizabeth Home and her husband Scott Tadema; grandchildren Kayla, Ewan and Logan Home; sister Linda Holmes and her husband Brian; sister Kathy Matsuo and her husband Jeff; sister Pam Inglis and her husband Mark; mother-in-law Pamela Townsend; sister in laws Sue Oakley and Pamela Townsend.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Taylor Funeral Home 524 Davis Drive Newmarket, on Saturday January 11, 2025 from 1:00 - 4:00pm.

Please kindly make donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada in lieu of flowers.
