July 7th, 1945 - December 23rd, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandy Elaine Hollingsworth, who peacefully left us on December 23rd, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Sandy lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion. She was a longtime community member of Aurora, where she raised her three children Stew, Kelly and Tracey, and where she also lovingly raised her grandchildren: Jamie, Tiana, and Jake. She adored her other grandson Tyler, and recently welcomed her great-grandson, Benjamin, with whom she cherished her time with. She will be remembered for the unwavering support she provided for all of her children and grandchildren throughout her life.
Sandy worked for many years at CIBC before transitioning to the National Bank of Canada, where she retired after a dedicated tenure. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sandy was known for her selflessness and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a woman who gave unconditionally, often putting the needs of those she loved before her own. Her family was always her first priority, and she exemplified the true meaning of motherhood, sisterhood, and friendship.
Sandy’s family and friends, including her beloved sister Sharon and brother Dennis, were blessed by her thoughtful nature, quick wit, and enduring sense of humor. She had a knack for brightening any room with her laughter and never failed to bring joy to those around her. Her friendships were deeply treasured, and she maintained a close-knit group of lifelong friends who were a constant source of support and joy in her life.
A lifelong reader, Sandy’s passion for books started at an early age and continued throughout her life. She also had a deep love for travel and fashion, visiting Europe and most recently Australia where she enjoyed exploring new places. But perhaps most of all, Sandy’s heart was full of love for animals, especially dogs, and she found comfort and companionship in her long-time dogs Sammie and Elliot.
Sandy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and grace. She touched the lives of so many, offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and a warm smile. Her love and influence will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, as well as the many friends and loved ones whose lives she enriched.
Sandy’s passing is a tremendous loss, but we take comfort in knowing she lived a life full of love and meaningful connections. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the SPCA for Dogs in Care in Sandy’s honor.
Sandy’s spirit will forever be with us, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Rest in peace, Sandy. You were truly one of a kind.
