1944 - 2025

It is with deep sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Arthur Denton Holliday, who peacefully passed away at Newmarket Health Centre on Monday, March 10th, 2025, in his 81st year.
Arthur was born on July 16th, 1944, to Father Thomas Holliday and Mother Edna Holliday (nee Thurgood).

Arthur leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and laughter as a beloved husband of Mary (nee Cook) Father of Kent (Margie) Rob (Karen) Stepdad to Stephen (Stacy) Kevin (Nancy). Arthur is also survived by his sister Margret (Alan) and Uncle to David and Sharon.

Arthur was also a proud grandfather to Jonathan, Luke, Simon, Emily, Jason, Christopher (Jennifer), Marisa (Ian), Mark (Andrea), Alexis, Reilly, Owen, Dryden, and Samantha. He was a cherished great-grandfather to Jacob, Madlyn, Hadley, and Marie.

Arthur worked for the TTC for 30 years, dedicating his career to serving the community. Upon his retirement he continued his life service by giving back to the community serving as a Lion for the Holland Landing Lions Club and enjoyed being part of some of the Town’s Committee’s.

A man of adventure, Arthur had a deep love for travel. He and his wife, Mary, shared many wonderful cruises together, meeting new friends and creating lasting memories around the world.

Arthur was a man whose love for his family knew no bounds. Together with his wife, Mary, they created a home that was always filled with warmth, laughter and joy. Their home became a place where memories were made, and the door was always open to family and friends. Summers were made special with BBQ’s poolside gatherings and endless hours spent in the hot tub. Their home was not just a house, but a hub for many celebrations.

Not only did he believe in the power of family but found true happiness in seeing his loved ones gather and grow up before his eyes. His jokes, stories and infectious smile will forever be etched in all our hearts. He was a good friend to many who were part of his life and will be sadly missed by all.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at the Newmarket Health Centre. Your efforts in caring for Art are deeply appreciated.

In accordance with Arthur’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, the family will host a Celebration of Life later this year. Details will be shared later, and those who loved him will be invited to join in remembering the joy and love he brought to everyone around him.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Camp Kirk, Autism Ontario or a charity of your choice in Art’s memory would be welcomed and appreciated.
